An early Happy Birthday! to Herman Nodorft, who celebrates his 100th birthday later this month.
Writes Herman's granddaughter Michelle: Herman enjoys playing Euchre, watching sports of all kinds -- especially the Badgers and Packers -- tending the residence's flower beds, feeding birds from his deck, and participating in daily activities planned by staff at his home.
Herman is a World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient, who served his country in the 5th Division 11th Infantry from 1941-1945. He was injured in the war and honorably discharged. At the age of 98 he visited Washington, D.C., with other WWII veterans as part of the Badger Honor Flight program. (Click here to read more about the Honor Flight Network.)
Herman farmed outside Boscobel, Wisconsin, for most of his life. Upon retirement, he and his wife Vera moved to Platteville, Wisconsin, where he resided until moving three years ago.
His secrets to longevity: Reading the Bible, having a good sense of humor and staying competitive.
